Vedic astrology uses both zodiac signs and Nakshatras. The 27-fold Nakshatra framework divides the zodiac into lunar mansions; it does not replace the 12 signs. Both Western and Vedic astrology consider the Sun, Moon and other chart factors.

Guna, Ayurvedic dosha and the four motivations belong to Indian interpretive frameworks. The Indian five-element vocabulary, Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Ether, is not the Chinese Five Elements, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
