🕉️ Meaning & Mythology
'Anuradha' has several meanings. It means 'a small flash of lightning' or 'a tiny spark', suggesting that it takes only a small flash of intuition or a tiny spark of consciousness to make us aware of our connection with the divine. 'Anu' also means small and 'Radha' is the name of the beloved of Lord Krishna. Radha was a separate entity to Krishna, but desired to merge with him. Again, the meaning of Anuradha is connecting the individual to the entirety of the universe.
Anuradha is placed partly in Scorpio, ruled by Mars, and partly in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter. Saturn rules Anuradha. The portion of Anuradha ruled by Mars gives us the courage and confidence to face the spiritual trials and tribulations that Saturn puts in our path. The latter half, ruled by Jupiter, provides the balance to Saturnine restrictions.
The soul immersed in the material world forgets its divine heritage. Anuradha unveils its hidden purity. Anuradha opens our minds to the Kundalini, the mysterious power within us, which we need to activate to reach the path of higher consciousness. As we start to understand and access the hidden power within us we must be careful. The knowledge of our secret faculties has to be handled carefully as it can create turmoil within our normal life.
