The first time I saw my Gene Keys profile, I felt seen in a way no other system had ever managed. Not my sun sign, not my Human Design chart — this. A map that explained why I built Artemisia the way I did, why precision matters so deeply to me, and why I can’t stop weaving ancient wisdom systems together. This article is my attempt to share that map with you.
📖 What Are Gene Keys? (Richard Rudd’s System)
Gene Keys was created by Richard Rudd and published in 2009. The central insight: three ancient systems independently arrived at the same number — 64.
64 hexagrams — the Chinese Book of Changes, mapping every state of transformation
64 codons — the biological alphabet encoding all life on Earth
Your birth chart — planetary positions at your exact moment of arrival, mapped to the 64
Gene Keys uses your birth data to generate a Hologenetic Profile — six Gene Keys, each governing a different dimension of your life: Life’s Work, Evolution, Radiance, Purpose, SQ (Quintessence), and Pearl.
🎙️ The Three Frequencies: Shadow → Gift → Siddhi
Every Gene Key operates at three frequencies. You don’t achieve the higher ones through effort — you shift through contemplation.
The wound. The unconscious pattern that limits you. Not something to fight — something to witness with compassion. The shadow is the seed of the gift.
The talent that emerges when you stop fighting the shadow. Where most of us can live and work — engaged, creative, purposeful.
The divine quality. Rare, spontaneous, beyond effort. Arises when the Gift is fully embodied — a state of pure being, not doing.
📍 The 6 Lines (from the I Ching)
Each Gene Key carries a line number (1–6) from the I Ching. The hexagram tells you what the energy is. The line tells you how it expresses.
