🌊 Meaning & Mythology

Shatabhishak is the final nakshatra ruled by Rahu. A small part of it is placed in Aquarius, ruled by Saturn, and the rest is in Pisces, ruled by Jupiter. Shata means 'hundred' and bhishak means 'demons and healers'. Shatabhishak have special healing properties. They can be both demonic and godly, indicating the two sides of man; one has to be conquered to find the other.

Rahu impacts the mind and creates massive spiritual blocks towards inner growth. When the task becomes difficult, Jupiter as the supreme guru is there to guide and help with his wisdom. Shatabhishak is connected to the sage Valmiki who was a robber before he found the true path — and went on to write the great epic Ramayana.

In Shatabhishak, the mind will set up mental obstacles that have to be mastered before the soul can let go of its ego.

⊕ Symbol: The Hundred Stars

Shatabhishak's symbol is the hundred stars that resemble the thousand-petal flower, indicating the Crown chakra. The stars are silent watchers of the play of life. The flowering of the thousand-petal flower indicates the complete flowering of inner beauty. The flower blooms for the joy of others; it does not recognize its own beauty.

🌊 Ruling Deity: Varuna

The presiding deity is Varuna, the ancient Vedic god who rules the oceans and directs the sun and wind. He has extraordinary powers to heal and rejuvenate through the use of physic herbs and medicine. As the god of the oceans he controls the emotions and the mind, and so he has the ability to bestow wisdom and change the direction of the mind.

✨ Personality Traits

Shatabhishak have strong principles. They can be secretive — if they keep their weaknesses to themselves, it can create more problems at a later date. They have the ability to achieve the impossible, setting themselves impossible targets and going beyond even their own goals. They have sharp minds and are usually highly perceptive.

However, Shatabhishak lack self-confidence. They are like flowers that do not recognize their own beauty, so they will be perpetually disappointed by their achievements. They must try to look within themselves to find happiness, and stop equating purely material gains with success.

⚖️ Shatabhishak Aim: Dharma

This is the last nakshatra to reflect the motivation of dharma, now at its final intensity. Shatabhishak know about doing the right thing — they have fought the battle with their desires and won; they have learnt to let go of their egos. The dharma here is connected to doing the right thing by themselves. They know that what lies in the path of their final realization is their own minds.

☯️ Guna Triplicity: Sattva, Tamas & Sattva

Sattva on the primary (physical) and tertiary (spiritual) levels, and Tamas on the secondary (mental) level. Rahu controls the Tamas guna, creating psychological problems. This Tamas has to be seen as the last mental block before true perception is able to dawn — the most difficult one. This is why Shatabhishak are sometimes tempted to take a path of self-destruction.

🌬️ Ayurvedic Dosha: Vata

Shatabhishak have nervous dispositions. Their restlessness can create both physical and mental stress. The mind is in such a hurry to find the answers, that too much energy is whizzing around the brain. Vata needs to be calmed; otherwise, there may be mental overload.
Health: Arthritis, rheumatism · Heart trouble, hypertension · Calves and ankles · Jaw problems, TMJ · Bone fractures

♒ Western Sun Sign Links

In Aquarius: Rahu's rulership makes for a difficult combination with Saturn. Life has to have a purpose and the overall direction is about learning lessons. This double Saturnine influence is difficult to handle unless activities are directed towards service to humanity.

In Pisces: Pisces deals with merging the individual into the universal; Shatabhishak symbolizes the heavenly ocean. This nakshatra is about understanding the power of the mind and allowing it to go beyond ordinary perception.

🌿 Spiritual Life Path

Shatabhishak's spiritual life path is concerned with letting the mind merge with the consciousness. A clever mind sometimes becomes an impediment to understanding the infinite forces of nature. Shatabhishak's spiritual path is linked to letting go of their individuality, allowing their minds to expand and to venture into the unknown.

💑 Relationships

Shatabhishak are a real contradiction. They may appear to be traditional and pious, yet they need relationships that are non-traditional and exciting. Problems can arise when they are not open about their desires and build up a secret network of relationships.

Most compatible: Dhanishta (can be open with them) · Other Shatabhishak (instinctively create conditions for long-term partnerships) · Rohini and Krittika

Least compatible: Punarvasu (never give each other a chance to express love properly) · Hasta (too possessive and demanding)

Ideal sexual partner: Ashwini (male horse) — both too independent to make the relationship work in other areas unless they respect each other's individuality. Unsuitable: Hasta and Swati (the buffalos)

🐴 Sexual Energy: The Female Horse

Female stands for passivity. Horses are beautiful, proud and majestic, but they also have nervous temperaments. Shatabhishak can be fearful and highly strung and will find it difficult to trust others with their sexual desires. They may have strong sexual urges, but will hardly ever express these openly and will never take the initiative.
