Scots Pine is Pinus sylvestris, family Pinaceae. Gabriel Mojay’s profile describes leaf oil with a fresh-coniferous fragrance. Pinyon Pine, Pinus edulis, is a different species: the oils should not be identified or substituted by the common word “pine” alone.

Plant part, extraction, origin and batch composition should be checked against the material’s supplier documentation.

Chemistry & Variation

Mojay lists monoterpenes including pinene constituents, carene, camphene, limonene and myrcene, alongside other constituent groups. The broad ranges in his notes are not an analysis of a particular bottle. Exact composition requires batch-specific analytical documentation.
