Botanical identity: Pinus edulis, family Pinaceae; also called Pinyon, Piñon or Colorado Pinyon. This is distinct from Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris).

The existing monograph describes a Southwestern USA origin, needles and twigs, steam distillation, and a fresh, sweet-resinous forest aroma. These are general profile notes, not confirmation of a particular supplier batch.

Previously listed constituents include α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene and β-phellandrene. Actual composition and proportions require the oil’s batch analysis; this guide does not establish a GC/MS result.
