Hexagram 41 is Mountain (☶) above Lake (☱) — the image of the lake at the foot of the mountain, its waters decreasing as they nourish the earth below. This is the hexagram of decrease, simplification, and sacred sacrifice. What appears to be loss is actually an offering — when we decrease what is excessive, we create space for what is essential.
The Simplifier knows that true abundance comes not from accumulation but from sincerity and restraint. The superior one curbs anger and restrains instincts — not through suppression, but through the wisdom of knowing what truly matters. In decreasing the outer, the inner is enriched.
