Oakmoss (Evernia prunastri) is a lichen that grows on the bark of oak trees across temperate forests. It is one of the most ancient and revered materials in perfumery — a cornerstone of the classic chypre and fougère fragrance families. Its scent evokes the forest floor after rain, ancient trees, and the quiet beauty of imperfection — the very essence of Wabi Sabi.
Note: Due to sensitization concerns, oakmoss absolute is restricted in EU cosmetics (IFRA guidelines). Always use within safe limits.
