Hexagram 46 is Earth (☷) above Wind/Wood (☴) — the image of wood growing upward through the earth, slowly, steadily, irresistibly. This is the hexagram of gradual ascent, patient growth, and the unstoppable power of devoted effort. The tree does not force its way through the earth — it grows through it, cell by cell, ring by ring, season by season.
The Sensual archetype here is the one who finds joy in the process of growth itself — who heaps up small things with devotion and delight, knowing that each small step is building toward something high and great. True ascent is not a leap but a continuous, joyful unfolding.
