Pushya Nakshatra #8 | The Nourisher | פּוּשְׁיָה
🌸 Pushya Nakshatra #8
The Nourisher | המזין
3°20' – 16°40' Cancer · Ruled by Saturn · Deity: Brihaspati, Lord of Sacred Speech
🌿 Meaning & Mythology
'Pushya' means 'to nourish' or 'to thrive'. Pushya work to nourish others and create conditions in which the world can thrive. It is considered one of the most auspicious nakshatras — the very flower of the zodiac. Key words: fragrant and colourful.
The ruler of Pushya is Saturn, placed at the ending of Cancer and beginning of Leo. Saturn teaches us about responsibility, death, and transformations, so that we can search for our true light. The presiding deity is Brihaspati — another name for Jupiter, an expansive planet that increases everything it touches. The balance between Saturn's restriction and Jupiter's expansion is what makes Pushya so special. At the stage of Pushya, the soul understands that this life is only part of a whole — not the whole itself.
The symbols of Pushya are a flower, arrow and circle. The flower blooms for others and may not recognize its own beauty. The arrow shows ambition and directed activity. The circle is whole in itself — it represents a complete life, not its ending or beginning.
