Krittika is the nakshatra of fire and purification. Its symbol is the razor or flame — a tool that both cuts away impurity and illuminates the darkness. Ruled by Agni, the Vedic god of sacred fire, Krittika burns away what is no longer needed, making space for clarity and truth.
Krittika consists of six visible stars — the Pleiades (Alcyone). The myth of Krittika is connected to the birth of Kartika, the warrior Mars. Krittika incubated Shiva's seed, and from it Kartika the warrior god was born. This gives Krittika its dual nature: fierce warrior energy combined with deep nurturing capacity.
