🌿 Meaning & Mythology

Mula is the third nakshatra ruled by Ketu. It is placed partly in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, and partly in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. Mula is the start of the final part of the soul's mission towards finding the answers that will enable it to break away from the cycles of life and death. 'Mula' means 'root' and it is also muladhara chakra (the base chakra) which is the basis of spiritual growth.

Sagittarius transcends the physical into the psychic. Capricorn provides the bridge between man and the Supreme. Qualities of renunciation and self-sacrifice are developed to activate the deeper levels of the soul. Jupiter represents wisdom, Saturn renunciation, and Ketu is the past karma that we carry in the subconscious. All these combine to make Mula an intense nakshatra — rooted in earth, but growing towards the sky and aspiring to the universal connection.
