📚 What are Hydrosols? | מהם הידרוסולים?
Hydrosols (also called floral waters, hydrolats, or distillates) are the aromatic water produced during steam distillation of essential oils. When plant material is distilled, two products are created: essential oil (which floats on top) and hydrosol (the water below).
Key Characteristics:
- Gentle - Much milder than essential oils (0.02-0.05% aromatic compounds)
- Water-soluble - Contains water-soluble plant compounds not found in essential oils
- pH balanced - Naturally pH balanced for skin
- Safe - Can be used undiluted, safe for babies and sensitive skin
