Meaning & Mythology
Hasta means “hand.” In the interpretive imagery used here, four fingers recall the four aims, artha, kama, dharma and moksha. Finger joints can become a metaphor for the three gunas or doshas; the whole hand can suggest the five senses or elements. These are contemplative images, not anatomical evidence or a map of someone’s destiny.
Hasta lies entirely within sidereal Virgo. Mercury is Virgo’s sign ruler; the Moon is Hasta’s nakshatra ruler. In astrological symbolism, this combination invites reflection on attentive craft and changing rhythms, rather than claims that celestial bodies determine mental ability.
Savitar & Inner Light
Savitar is associated with solar inspiration and the Gayatri Mantra. The existing guide’s imagery of Aditi’s sons and inner light is retained as mythology, not proof of a one-to-one equivalence with zodiac signs. A useful prompt: what brings light and intention to the work of your hands?

Moksha & Everyday Responsibility
Moksha offers a traditional language for liberation. Here it becomes a question: how can meaningful work and spiritual inquiry coexist? Yoga may be a personal practice, but a nakshatra does not establish what practice someone needs or guarantee spiritual progress.
Relationships
The hand can suggest both holding and allowing space. Reflect on generosity, independence and communication without assigning compatibility, sexual suitability or emotional traits by nakshatra. Ashwini and Shatabhishak should not be grouped as Moon-ruled nakshatras.
