🖤 The Soul Written in Hands & Stars

Threads 5–8 of the synchronicity map — chirology, Vedic palmistry, the birth chart, and the Gene Keys

Read Part 1: How Depth Psychology Found Me

In Part 1, we traced the ancestral threads: Rashi, Vienna, Burgenland, Erich Neumann in Tel Aviv, and the Eranos Circle where Jung, Scholem, Buber, Wilhelm, and Zimmer sat at one table. Here we continue with four more threads that complete the map — written not in history books, but in the lines of the hand and the positions of the stars.

🔵 Thread Five: Julius Spier, Chirology & Etty Hillesum

I studied chirology — the reading of hands as a map of the soul. One of my primary sources was Julius Spier's book The Hands of Children. I came to it as a student of hand analysis, drawn by its depth and precision. What I didn't know at the time: Jung himself wrote the foreword. Spier had been analyzed by Jung in Zürich and became a practicing chirologist in Amsterdam.

And then came the second discovery. Etty Hillesum — the Dutch Jewish mystic already woven into this site's I Ching Complete Guide — was Julius Spier's patient and closest companion. She found her soul through him, through chirology, through depth psychology, while the Nazis closed in around Amsterdam. Her diaries, written in those final years, are among the most luminous spiritual documents of the 20th century. She died in Auschwitz in 1943.

Erich Neumann survived the same historical catastrophe and came to Tel Aviv. Both Etty and Neumann were doing the deepest inner work imaginable under existential threat. Both chose the soul over survival of the ego. Both are woven into this site — without me having planned it.

Jung → analyzed Spier → wrote foreword to The Hands of Children
Spier → Etty Hillesum's analyst → she found her soul through chirology
Etty → already on this site → without knowing the Spier–Jung connection
You → studied Spier's book → without knowing Jung's hand was in it

🔵 Thread Six: Ghanshyam Singh Birla & Vedic Chirology

My chirology studies also led me to Ghanshyam Singh Birla — the Indian master of Hast Jyotish, Vedic palmistry. Birla integrated the ancient Indian science of hand reading with Ayurveda and Jyotish: the hand as a map of karma, dharma, and the soul's journey through its Nakshatras.

In Birla's system, the lines of the palm are not fixed fate — they are a living dialogue between the soul's intention and its incarnated choices. The same 27 Nakshatras written in the birth sky are echoed in the mounts and lines of the hand. The hand is the horoscope made flesh.

This connects directly to the Eranos thread through Heinrich Zimmer — the Indologist who brought Ayurveda, Hindu mythology, and the chakra system to the West, and who sat at the same table as Jung and Neumann at Eranos. The Indian wisdom tradition was always part of the circle. Birla brought it into my hands — literally.

🔵 Thread Seven: The Birth Chart — Depth Psychology Written in the Sky

On April 14, 1964, at 7:00 AM in Tel Aviv, a soul arrived with a very specific map. My Four Pillars / BaZi chart and Vedic birth chart are not separate from this work — they are this work:

  • Ascendant in Krittika — the nakshatra of the sacred flame, of purification by fire. Krittika cuts away what is false to reveal what is essential. Depth psychology as a natal imperative — the soul must seek what is real beneath the surface.
  • Moon in Bharani — the nakshatra of Yama, lord of death and transformation, of holding what must be held before it can be released. Bharani is the womb and the tomb — Neumann's Great Mother written personally into the soul at birth.
  • Mars in Revati, 12th house — Revati is the last nakshatra, the completion, the fish swimming in the cosmic ocean. The 12th house is the unconscious, the hidden, the dissolution of ego. Born with Mars — the planet of will and action — in the house of the unconscious, in the nakshatra of completion. The drive toward depth is not chosen. It is structural.
  • Rahu in Ardra — Shiva's nakshatra, the storm that precedes renewal, the destruction that makes space for transformation. Rahu is the shadow node — the karmic north, the direction of growth. Rahu in Ardra: Jung's shadow work as the soul's evolutionary imperative.
  • Jupiter in Ashwini — the Ashwini Kumars, the divine physicians, the healers who arrive swiftly in the night. Jupiter (wisdom, teaching, expansion) in the nakshatra of healing. The teaching vocation written in the sky at birth.

And in the Four Pillars / BaZi — the Five Elements map the same soul through the Chinese lens, connecting to the TCM and 12 Meridians content on this site. The same soul, seen through different windows. Every tradition arrives at the same map.

🔵 Thread Eight: Gene Keys — The Evolutionary Map

The final thread is the one that synthesizes all the others. My Gene Keys profile — itself rooted in the I Ching, which lives on this site through all 64 hexagrams — reads like a description of everything above:

  • Life's Work: 42.4 — Celebration → individuation as celebration of the Self. Jung's entire project — the journey toward wholeness — as the soul's primary vocation.
  • Evolution: 32.4 — VenerationHexagram 32, Duration — the endurance of what is true across time. The ancestral thread — Rashi, Burgenland, Vienna, Neumann, Eranos — as evolutionary purpose. To venerate what has been passed down.
  • Purpose: 62.6 — Impeccability → the precision with which every monograph, hexagram, Nakshatra page, and Tarot card on this site is built. Zero defects not as perfectionism — as devotion.
  • Core: 41.2 — Anticipation/Emanation → the creative impulse that draws the next tradition, the next teacher, the next synchronicity — before the conscious mind knows why.
  • Radiance: 61.6 — Sanctity → the inner truth that radiates when the work is aligned with the soul's deepest calling.

The Gene Keys are themselves a synthesis of I Ching, genetics, and shadow work — Richard Rudd's modern Eranos, where East and West, science and mysticism, meet at one table. The circle continues.
